NEW FILM SERIES
AT THE PAYOMET TENT

Payomet Performing Arts Center In Truro announces a new 10-week Independent Film Series will be included in their summer season this year.

This will be the ninth year of programming, and the second at its beautiful new Tent and its new location near the majestic clay cliffs overlooking the Atlantic at Highlands Center at Cape Cod National Seashore, North Truro .

The Film Series will be curated by filmmaker REBECCA M. ALVIN , who founded the Cape Cod Film Society Screening Series, which has been showing unusual, independent, and undistributed films to Cape audiences since 2002. The Series, with Alvin ’s participation, promises to be another unique program of smaller films.

Alvin has been a professional independent filmmaker since 1992, when she graduated from Emerson College . Since then, she has created numerous short and feature-length films, which have shown internationally, earned a Master’s degree from The New School in 2001, and began teaching film at Emerson , Cape Cod Community College , The New School , and other colleges. She is currently completing her third feature-length documentary Women of Faith, about women in the Catholic Church.

Submissions from all over the country are currently being reviewed, with a plan to announce the selected works this spring. Films will be shown on 10 Monday nights at 8 p.m. at the Tent July 2 through September 3. Several will include Q&A sessions with the filmmakers after the screening. Payomet will be announcing its complete schedule shortly which will include some old favorites as well as a few new surprises.
